Six games

How far does a brand drift?

Nobody sets out to bend a logo or lose a colour. It happens a few percent at a time, from memory, in a rush, on someone else's screen. Six quick games about how little it takes, and how much of it you'd miss.

Could you pick your brand colour from memory?

Five colours, a few seconds each, then dial each one back. Most people drift further than they think, and so does every team that works from memory.

Pick a level, then press play.

Five colours, 3 seconds each.

Could you spot the off-brand logo?

Six logos, one of them wrong. Stretched a touch, tinted a touch, nudged a touch. Most drift is only a few percent, and it gets through unless there's a real one to check it against.

Pick a level, then press play.

Five rounds. Six logos, one of them wrong.

Could you put the mark back together?

The mark, cut into pieces and mixed up. Slide them home. Every piece has one right place, and the mark only reads once they're all in it. A brand is the same: not the parts, but the way they fit.

Pick a size, then press play.

Slide the pieces home in as few moves as you can.

How much room does a logo need?

The space round a logo is part of the logo. Pull the box in as tight as the rule allows, and no tighter. The rule is the same every time, half the logo's height all the way round. The logo isn't.

Press play when you're ready.

Five sizes. The rule is half the logo's height, all round.

Could you spot the shade that's off?

Six swatches of one colour, and one of them isn't quite it. Tap it. The gap shrinks every round, down to about the smallest difference an eye can see. That's the gap a printer, a screen or a rushed export leaves.

Pick a level, then press play.

Five rounds. Six swatches, one a shade off.

Could you keep six logos on brand?

Six places, six logos. Every few seconds one of them drifts: a stretch, a tilt, a tint. Tap it before it settles back. It gets quicker, and near the end more than one goes at once. That's a brand out in the world.

Pick a level, then press play.

Twenty drifts. Tap a logo the moment it goes; a wrong tap costs half a second.
